Patsy was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, where she actively participated in various church activities. Known for her nurturing spirit, she dedicated her life to creating a loving and supportive home for her family, embodying the role of a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, William M. Ward, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage. Together, they raised a family that includes one son, Bill Ward, and daughter-in-law Kim Ward, who reside in Wilmington, North Carolina, and two daughters, Suzanne Givens of Sharpsburg, Georgia, and Trish Bane, who is married to Emmett Bane and lives in Nashville.
Patsy leaves behind a legacy that includes six grandchildren: Garrett Ward of Wilmington, NC; William Bane of Alexandria, VA; Alexa Ward of Golden, CO; Patsy Doedtman of Indianapolis, IN; Isabella Bane of Nashville, TN; and Sophie Gallier of Montgomery, TX. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Evelyn Ward, Selah Gallier, and Arthur Bane.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Myrtle Hawk Eyler, and siblings including three brothers – Charles, Denver, and Morgan Eyler – and three sisters – Evelyn Poore, Geraldine Thomas, and Myree Palmer.
The family expresses their gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the following caregivers: Shannon Barker, Jackie Clay, Christie Colley, Dominique Hanserd, Sherron Haywood, Ginese Evans, Sylvia Haworth, Sue Yates, Velma Barr, and Lois Leonard.
Visitation for friends and family will take place on September 8, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Blevins Funeral Home, located at 417 Lee St, Bristol, VA 24201. Following the visitation, a graveside burial will be held at Glenwood Cemetery, situated at 839 Bluff City Highway, Bristol, TN 37620.
