Harold D. Mitchener

Harold D. Mitchener, aged 86, passed away on October 7, 2025, at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. Mitchener was born on October 23, 1938, in Bristol, son of the late Harold G. Mitchener and Lutie Dodson Mitchener. He spent his early years involved in Troop #25 of the Boy Scouts, church activities, and the Order of De Molay.

Mitchener graduated from Bristol Borough Public School in 1956 before continuing his higher education, earning a BS degree in Education from West Chester University and an MS degree in Education from the College of New Jersey at Trenton. For 35 years, he dedicated his career to teaching in the Bensalem Township School District.

In 1964, he married Carol Houser, and their marriage lasted 56 years until her passing in 2020. Mitchener was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Bristol, contributing significantly through his involvement in the church’s vocal choir, Handbell choir, youth group, and serving as Sunday School teacher and Church Lay Leader. He also played a vital role as the Editor of the Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation’s Newsletter for over three decades.

In his retirement, Mitchener’s commitment to the community continued as a volunteer at the Margaret R. Grundy Library for more than 20 years. He is survived by his sister, several sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. Harold’s viewing is set for October 13, 2025, from 6-8 PM at Wade Funeral Home in Bristol Borough, with the funeral service scheduled for October 14, 2025, at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church of Bristol, followed by interment at Bristol Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to First United Methodist Church of Bristol, Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation, or the Margaret R. Grundy Library.

Lonnie D. Bristol

Lonnie D. Bristol, aged 81, of Mankato, MN, passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born on October 20, 1943, to Donald and Ruth Bristol, he grew up in Madelia, where he was known for raising prize-winning Southdown sheep.

After graduating from Madelia High School in 1961, where he participated in football and wrestling, Bristol pursued further education at Eastern Arizona College before transferring to Mankato State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business.

Bristol began his insurance career with State Farm in 1966, embodying the company’s motto, “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.” He actively participated in community activities, including Bible Study Fellowship and The Gideons International, and was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine, along with children Corey, Stacey, and K. Matthew, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lonnie’s funeral service took place at Hosanna Lutheran Church on October 3, 2025, with visitation starting at 11 AM and the service following at 1 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Hosanna Lutheran Church.
