Born on June 13, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Cullom moved to Lake Worth, Florida, during his childhood. There, he laid the groundwork for his adventurous spirit, hard work, and deep-rooted faith. After completing high school in Lake Worth, he relocated to Lebanon, Ohio, where he met and married Jeannine Armitage on July 30, 1960. The couple welcomed their son, Miles E. Cullom, Jr. (Budd), on February 15, 1964, and eventually settled in Knoxville, Tennessee, after living in various locations, including Bristol and Lake Worth.

Throughout his 50+ years in Knoxville, Cullom made significant contributions through both his career and community involvement. He had a successful career in the ready-mix concrete business, co-owning Mecon, a concrete company in Knoxville, with his brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Cullom. He also worked with Loven Ready-Mix in Greeneville, Tennessee. In his later years, he transitioned to work at Cullom Properties Inc. alongside his son, cementing a legacy of entrepreneurship in the family.

Cullom was adventurous, participating in the renowned 1988 Trans-Amazon Rally, an epic 9,000-mile journey through less-explored regions of the Amazon and Andes. He also ferried concrete mixer trucks from Alaska to Knoxville, showcasing his love for travel and exploration. In addition to his adventurous pursuits, Cullom valued his faith. He was raised in the Church of Christ and actively participated in congregations such as the Farragut Church of Christ, Maryville Church of Christ, and Lake Placid Church of Christ.

In his personal life, Cullom enjoyed traveling the country in their RV camper with his wife Jeannine, spending winters in Lake Placid, Florida, and summers boating on Fort Loudon Lake. He was known for his kindness and willingness to help others, often found in his barn filled with tools and equipment ready for lending.

Miles E. Cullom, Sr. is predeceased by his wife Jeannine, his parents, and several siblings. He is survived by his son Miles E. Cullom, Jr. (Callie), grandchildren Miles E. Cullom III (Catherine) and Meredith Cullom Coffin (Elliott), and great-grandchildren Bradley Elizabeth, Ann Everette, Callie Jean, and Chloe James Coffin, in addition to many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

The family has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who provided exceptional care, including Mary, Cathy, Lori, Elizabeth, Jenny, Emily, and Angel, along with the staff at NHC Farragut and Caris Hospice. Cullom is remembered for his adventurous spirit, kindness, faith, and quick wit.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Click Funeral Home in Farragut on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with a memorial service scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Maryville Church of Christ or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
