Bucks County Schools Prepare for Icy Weather on February 6

As we gear up for another classic winter storm, schools across Bucks County have announced measures to keep both students and staff safe on February 6. With the looming threat of an ice storm, it’s essential for families to stay informed about closures and remote learning plans. Here’s what you need to know!

Wood School Takes a Flexible Approach

Wood School will be closing its doors on Thursday, but don’t worry! They’ll be using a flexible instruction day. Students can still access their assignments online and keep the learning going from home!

Remote Learning Days Across the County

Bensalem’s schools and offices will be officially closed on February 6, moving to a Remote Learning Day. Parents and students should check the Remote Learning Guide for details so everyone is on the same page.

The Bucks County Technical High School will also have an asynchronous learning day. That means while schools and offices will be closed, students can still engage in their studies independently.

Delays and Cancellations

For everyone attending Bucks County Community College, there’s a silver lining! All campuses are set for a delayed opening, starting at 1:00 p.m. However, keep in mind that morning in-person classes are canceled for the day.

Schools Switching to Asynchronous Classes

The Bristol Borough School District is in the boat with the rest, closing its buildings and running all classes asynchronously. Students will want to log into Google Classroom for their assignments. Meanwhile, Bristol Township Schools are transitioning to a Remote Learning Day as well, acknowledging the severity of the winter storm.

In the Central Bucks School District (CBSD), it’s a Flexible Instruction Day with all buildings closed. CSD schools are in sync with CBSD, opting for a flexible virtual schedule too.

Other Districts on Alert

Schools in Lower Merion will see a 2-hour delay, and a final decision on whether to close will be made at 7 a.m. on February 6.

Hatboro-Horsham schools are outright closed for the day due to inclement weather, and of course, all after-school activities are also canceled.

The Middle Bucks Institute of Technology goes for a simple approach: schools will be closed for in-person instruction. Similarly, Neshaminy schools and offices will come to a halt, but afternoon and evening high school activities are still on.

Virtual Learning Solutions

New Hope-Solebury has declared February 6 as an asynchronous learning day, while North Penn schools plan for an asynchronous virtual instructional day with assignments available on their Canvas platform.

Palisades will also switch to a virtual learning day, keeping parents informed via email. Pennridge schools are on board with an asynchronous schedule too, meaning all buildings will be closed along with events for the day.

For families in the Pennsbury School District, they’ll have a Remote Learning Day, with an instructional window running from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Meanwhile, the School District of Philadelphia is transitioning to a virtual setup for the day as well.

Wrapping It Up

Souderton Area students should log in by 10 a.m. on February 6 for their flexible instruction day, completing assignments through the Schoology platform. QCSD will also observe a Flexible Instructional Day, with details to be sent out to families via email.

As we brace for the weather, it’s important to stay safe and informed. Keep an eye on your emails and school announcements, and let’s keep the learning spirit alive, even if it means doing it from home!
