EXTON, Pa. — The Chicago Bulls jersey Michael Jordan wore in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals has sold for $14 million, Hunt Auctions announced Monday.

The game-worn, autographed red road jersey changed hands in a private sale to a Miami real estate investor. The price is a record for any piece of basketball memorabilia and the second highest ever paid for a game-used jersey in any sport.

Only the Babe Ruth jersey from Game 3 of the 1932 World Series has sold for more, going for $24.12 million in 2024.

Jordan wore the jersey on June 5, 1998, in Salt Lake City, scoring 37 points in a 93-88 win over the Utah Jazz that evened the series after a Game 1 loss. The Bulls went on to win the title in six games, giving Jordan a sixth and final championship in Chicago.

The sale tops the $12,260,000 paid for his Game 3 home jersey from the same Finals at a Sept. 29 auction. A Game 1 jersey brought about $10.1 million in 2022, making this at least the third jersey from that series to pass $10 million.

The jersey was photomatched to Game 2 by two authentication firms, and the signature was authenticated through a separate signing. It had changed hands only once since it was first bought from the team.
