Debra Helbert Shaun, a long-time resident of Elizabethton, passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 61. She is remembered for her dedication to family, her love of motorcycle riding, and her active church participation. Elizabethton, Tennessee – Debra Helbert Shaun, a long-time resident of Elizabethton, passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 61. She died at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol following an illness.

Debra was born on October 19, 1963, in Elizabethton, to Georgie (Croy) Bemis, who survives her. Her father, Donald Gene Helbert, is deceased. She was deeply affected by the passing of her husband, Walter David Shaun, who preceded her in death on April 30, 2024. Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Helbert, and sister-in-law, Sharon Harmon Helbert.

Debra is survived by her daughter, Becky Blackburn, and will be remembered fondly by her two grandsons, Eli Roberts and Asher Miller. She is also survived by her sister, Sherri (Helbert) Lundy, and brother-in-law, Kyle Lundy. The family includes several nieces and nephews: Vincent Helbert Jr., Anthony Lundy, Mark Lundy and his wife Brandy, and Ember Lundy, along with great-nieces and nephews Grace Helbert, Sophie Helbert, Wren Lundy, and Finn Lundy.

Throughout her life, Debra was celebrated as a dedicated housewife who cherished her time with family and particularly enjoyed her role as grandmother. She was known for her love of motorcycle riding, gardening, and music, and was an active member of Borderview Christian Church.

A memorial service to honor Debra’s life will take place at 7 p.m. on May 2, 2025, at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton. Mr. Michael Klaus will officiate the service. Friends and family will have the opportunity to gather for visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 3, 2025, at George Mottern Cemetery in Watauga. Active pallbearers for the service will include Vincent Helbert Jr., Woody Lyons, Nathan Miller, Bob Miller, Eli Roberts, and Kyle Lundy. Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Croy, Rocky Croy, and Joe Carr.

Those attending the graveside service should meet at Tetrick Funeral Home by 9:30 a.m. on Saturday for the procession to the cemetery. The family has requested that words of comfort be shared online at Tetrick Funeral Home’s website.
