Kingsport gears up for a vibrant Independence Day celebration on July 4, featuring a parade followed by the Red, White and Boom event. The Mack Riddle American Legion Independence Day Parade will kick off in the morning, while the fireworks display will light up the night sky. Local theaters are also joining in, showcasing patriotic productions. Community participation is encouraged as residents celebrate together, making lasting memories and honoring the spirit of freedom.

Kingsport is set to celebrate Independence Day on July 4, with a series of festive events, parades, and fireworks aimed at bringing the community together. City offices will remain closed on the holiday, but waste management services will operate as usual, with no changes to trash routes.

On Independence Day, the Mack Riddle American Legion Independence Day Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. on Center Street, concluding at Memorial Park. To facilitate the parade, several road closures will be in effect. Center Street will be closed from Sullivan Street to Fort Henry Drive, while Fort Henry Drive will be shut off from Center Street to Eastman Road. Wilcox Drive will also have restricted access at Sevier Avenue. Residents can expect detour routes to be available during the event for better traffic management.

Following the parade on July 4, the Red, White and Boom event will begin on July 5 at 5 p.m. Preparations for the event will lead to partial road closures on Main Street starting at 8 a.m., with a complete closure expected by 1 p.m. The grand finale will be a spectacular display of fireworks scheduled to commence around 9:45 p.m.

In addition to these events, the LampLight Theatre is showcasing “For Freedom,” a production featuring classic patriotic tributes. This performance will run from June 27 to July 13, with ticket prices set at $15 for adults and $10 for students. Children under five will be admitted for free, along with free entry for veterans and first responders.

Residents and local groups are encouraged to participate in the Independence Day Parade, which is also scheduled for July 4 at 5 p.m., organized by Believe in Bristol. In addition to the parade, Kingsport will host a Fourth Annual Gospel Singing event on the same day at Sunset Village Baptist Church. The following day, July 5, will see a singing event featuring Faithful 2 at the Bible Way Church of Jesus Christ.

Across the Tri-Cities region, various other Fourth of July celebrations will feature additional parades and fireworks displays, providing a wide array of options for residents and visitors to join in the festivities. Notably, Disney’s “Frozen,” a Broadway musical, continues its run at Barter Theatre from May 24 to August 17, enhancing the cultural offerings available during this holiday season.

City officials are eager for community participation in this year’s Independence Day celebrations, providing opportunities for families and individuals to enjoy local traditions and create lasting memories.

As the holiday approaches, Kingsport prepares to honor America’s independence with a variety of events designed to celebrate community spirit and patriotism.
