Exciting News for Johnson City: Free Hands-On CPR Training Kicks Off This June!

Residents of Johnson City, get ready to roll up your sleeves and learn a life-saving skill! The Johnson City Fire Department (JCFD) is excited to announce that they will offer free, hands-on CPR training sessions starting this June. This initiative is part of a new program aimed at equipping the community with essential knowledge of hands-only CPR, and it’s open to absolutely everyone!

Quarterly Training Sessions at the JCFD Training Facility

The hands-on CPR training sessions will be held quarterly at the JCFD Training Facility, which is conveniently located at 2832 W. Walnut Street. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals of all ages to come together, learn, and practice CPR in a safe and friendly environment. While the initial sessions will be scheduled quarterly, the department is eager to meet community demands, so more sessions could be lined up depending on how excited people are to participate!

How to Register and What to Expect

(423) 975-2840 for more information or visit the website at www.johnsoncitytn.org/handsonlycprclass to register for the upcoming June course. After signing up, attendees will receive notification regarding the specific date and time of the training — so keep an eye on that inbox!

Before diving into the training, all participants will need to sign a waiver. But don’t worry, it’s just a formality to ensure everyone understands the basics before starting. You’ll be in good hands — literally!

Practice Makes Perfect with Advanced Training Manikins

During the training sessions, participants will get hands-on practice using Brayden manikins, which are designed to provide realistic experiences while learning CPR techniques. This is where the fun and learning happen! You’ll have the chance to practice your skills and build confidence in performing CPR, which can make all the difference in an emergency.

Responding to Community Needs

This new offering stems from direct feedback collected through a survey conducted by the JCFD, showing a solid demand for more community programs. Residents expressed interest specifically in hands-only CPR training, and the department is thrilled to respond to that need! In fact, the first community session already saw around 70 employees from the Johnson City Water and Sewer Services Department taking part, highlighting the eagerness within the community to learn these vital skills.

Stay Tuned for Additional Opportunities!

And that’s not all, folks! Keep your eyes peeled for further details on how businesses, schools, and other groups can take part in these training sessions. This is a chance for everyone to come together and empower each other with the knowledge of CPR, paving the way for a safer community. Whether you’re a student, a parent, or part of a local organization, there’s a place for you in this welcoming program.

So mark your calendars and spread the word! With the Johnson City Fire Department taking the lead, we can all learn how to respond effectively in emergencies. Together, let’s make Johnson City a community that’s informed, prepared, and ready to make a difference!
