Elizabethton is coming together to remember a remarkable man, Todd Perry, who passed away on April 11, 2025, at the age of 57. He was a cherished part of the community, and his departure has left a deep void in the hearts of many.
From Birth to Legacy
Todd was born on October 8, 1967, to Larry and Betti Fortner Perry right here in Elizabethton. Though he faced challenges from the start, being born with cerebral palsy, Todd shattered expectations and led an active and adventurous life.
A proud member of Harmony Baptist Church, Todd’s faith played a significant role in his life, nurturing the community bonds he cherished. He attended Keenburg Elementary School and later graduated with the Elizabethton High School Class of 1985, after which he pursued his education at East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee.
Living Life to the Fullest
Todd was passionate about the great outdoors. He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, with one of his most memorable adventures being the time he harvested a massive elk in Colorado alongside good friends. Despite not being a player himself, Todd enriched his community through his wealth of sports knowledge, coaching his children’s youth sports teams and passionately discussing games with fellow enthusiasts.
If you ever wandered into Beef ‘O’ Brady’s on trivia night, you might have heard Todd’s name on the scoreboard for weeks on end as he claimed first place again and again!
A Love for Music and Fun
Music was another passion of Todd’s, with artists like Jimmy Buffett holding a special place in his heart. He made it extra special by introducing his children to their first concert experience with the beloved artist. This love for fun extended beyond music to include travel adventures, poker games, and casino outings where his luck often shone.
A Career to Remember
In his professional life, Todd worked with various companies such as Fingerhut, Citizens Bank, SBA, Seaboard Foundations, and River Gardens. His coworkers often cited him as a friend and family member, highlighting how he fostered strong relationships in every aspect of his life.
The Heart of a Family Man
Perhaps above all, Todd was defined by his love for family. His greatest pride was being a father and grandfather, known affectionately as “Pop Pop”. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren, crafting beautiful memories and fond traditions that will resonate for years to come. Todd is survived by his parents, a daughter Melenda Egolf (Alijah), a stepdaughter Kasey Taylor, a son Chris Perry (fiancée Brittany Souvannakhily), and five beloved grandchildren: Natalie, Rowen, Kinzley, Sadie, and Winsley.
