BRISTOL, Va. — Bristol, Va., voters who want to skip Election Day lines have one week left. In-person early voting for the Nov. 3 general and special elections continues at City Hall through Saturday, Oct. 31, according to the city’s Office of Elections and Voter Registration.

Early ballots are cast at the elections office inside City Hall at 300 Lee St. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week, and it will hold one last Saturday session on Oct. 31, also from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. That Saturday is the final chance to vote early.

Voting started Sept. 18, and the office already held weekend hours on Oct. 18, Oct. 24 and Oct. 25. The regular registration deadline and the deadline to ask for a mailed absentee ballot both passed Friday, Oct. 23. Since Oct. 24, people who missed registration can still register on the spot and vote a provisional ballot.

Voters need to bring identification. State law requires an acceptable form of ID to vote in person; anyone who shows up without one will have to sign an ID confirmation statement, or else cast a provisional ballot.

The city also offers curbside voting for people 65 or older and for voters with a physical disability. They can park in the marked spot at the polling place and follow the posted sign to reach an election officer without leaving the car. Voters who prefer not to go inside can also use the drive-thru window that faces Scott Street.

Bristol, Va., voters with questions about registration, ID or their ballot can call the elections office at 276-645-7318 or stop by City Hall during weekday hours.
