BRISTOL, Tenn. — Sullivan East is back in the TSSAA Class AA volleyball state tournament, giving Bristol-area fans another October trip to follow as the Patriots open Oct. 20 in Murfreesboro against Hume Fogg at 5 p.m.
The Patriots reached state last season and again this fall, a stretch that has made late-October trips to Middle Tennessee feel almost expected around Bluff City. The Class AA field also slots Crockett County, Valor College Prep, Elizabethton, Upperman, Dyer County and Signal Mountain into the opening round.
Tournament play runs Oct. 20-23. Class AA quarterfinal winners advance to Oct. 21 semifinals, with consolation and third-place matches following before the title round. Division II quarterfinals were still finishing Oct. 17 before those brackets update.
Science Hill and Dobyns-Bennett appear in the Class AAA bracket the same week, giving Tri-Cities fans multiple state programs to track. Sullivan East’s path starts with Hume Fogg, then a potential noon semifinal the next day if the Patriots advance.
For Bristol followers, the assignment renews a familiar October rhythm: pack for Murfreesboro, watch a program that keeps punching through the Class AA bracket, and measure another deep run against last year’s state appearance.
Tip times can shift as the TSSAA posts final schedules after the remaining preliminary rounds, so fans should confirm gate times before traveling from Bristol to the state tournament site this coming week for the Patriots’ Class AA state tournament opener.
